CBD has increasingly been in the news across the globe over the past few years. And it's growing in popularity quickly. But CBD use, and CBD itself, are topics that confuse a lot of people. To help clear some of that confusion up we've compiled a list of the answers to the questions people most frequently ask about CBD:
CBD - scientifically termed cannabidiol - is just one of hundreds of different active chemical compounds that are found in cannabis plants (both marijuana and hemp). The average marijuana plant does contain a considerable amount of it - it's the second most abundant compound found in the plant after THC. The average hemp plant contains around 10%CBD and is generally defined as having less than 0.3% THC, but this differs from country to country.
CBD 'works' as it binds itself to the CB2 receptors that move throughout the body's endocannabinoid system. These are found throughout the body, which explains why it has been found helpful with all kinds of health conditions. Research is ongoing into the use of CBD but the indications are that it may be suitable for use by a wide range of people. Users have found that it is helpful in supporting balance and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We DO NOT make any recommendations or promises that our products can treat, cure or prevent any specific health condition.
This is the issue that confuses so many people. THC (“tetrahydrocannabinol”) is the notorious psychoactive constituent, or active compound, in marijuana that produces a euphoric high. In other words, it's what gets you high if you smoke marijuana. For this reason, it has been a controlled substance for many years in most parts of the world.
To do that it binds with specific receptors in the brain known as CB-1 receptors. These receptors are located across your central nervous system. CBD is a completely different molecule and it cannot bind to CB-1 receptors. Instead, it binds to CB-2 receptors in the tissues and cells located away from the central nervous system.
A. Hemp is a form of cannabis. So the oil, which can be cold pressed from the cannabis / hemp plant and its seeds, is called either cannabis oil or hemp oil. The names are interchangeable. Cannabis oil, Hemp oil can also be referred to as CBD oil; however, there is more than just CBD in our cannabis oils, as they also contain other cannabinoids like CBG, CBC, CBDa. There are also many "Hemp Oil" products on the market made from hemp seeds only. Oil from hemp seeds contains almost no cannabinoids (no CBD). This is why we like to call our oral CBD oil "cannabis oil".
An example Dr Watson CBD oils contain 0 - <1mg of THC which is well within the legal limit allowed by UK law and will not have any psychoactive effect. Most of our products are made using Broad Spectrum CBD Distillate, meaning that the extract has been refined to contain only select cannabinoids. Science has found ways to separate certain cannabinoids, so while there may be traces of THC, it won't be detectable nor will you feel it..
They are both Cannabis (this is the confusing part). Cannabis is a “genus” (scientific name for a group of species) under a wide family of plants called “Cannabaceae” (nerdy science name). There are several “species” of Cannabis, and Hemp and marijuana are two distinct species !
Aside from a number of our CBD Isolate based E-liquids, nearly all Dr Watson products are made with a refined broad spectrum distillate, this contains a number of cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG, CBC, terpenes & flavonoids. It is generally considered amongst industry experts that a combination of cannabinoids creates a much more effective product. When you’re shopping for CBD online, Dr Watson wants to give you a product you can feel confident in.
CBD Isolate - This is when a product is made using CBD that is Isolated from all other compounds in cannabis, this is the only cannabinoid that is in the product. Our strong CBD Eliquids & CBD Vape Pod System are made using CBD Isolate combined with natural flavours and cannabis terpenes. Typically these products do not have the cannabis flavour but are more fruity and sweeter.
Broad Spectrum CBD - This is when the product is made with more of a whole plant extract. There is multiple cannabinoids in the extract used in the product, this gives a slightly more hempy flavour, it is said that products that are broad spectrum are generally more effective as cannabinoids work in conjunction together and create something called the "entourage effect". Dr Watson CBD Gummies, CBD Oils, and Big Hit 50% Vape Device are made using broad spectrum distillate.
Full Spectrum CBD - This is when extract includes all forms of cannabinoids, as well as THC. There has been little or no effort to remove any cannabis compound. A lot of brands label their product full spectrum without knowing the difference, in the UK if a product is full spectrum it likely contains THC and is therefore illegal. So they are either mislabelling accidentally or knowingly have over the legal THC content in the product. None of our products are made with full spectrum extract.
This is a term you will see across our website in relation to what’s in our products: The google definition is any of a large group of volatile unsaturated hydrocarbons found in the essential oils of plants, especially conifers and citrus trees.
To break it down, terpenes are compounds found in fruits flowers plants and herbs that contribute to the unique aroma, taste and profile of the plants. Most Dr Watson products contain cannabis and plant terpenes which is thought to contribute to the efficacy of the product
Yes, as mentioned in the previous question, all of our products contain zero THC - <1mg per entire product. In the UK, CBD products can be purchased legally by people over the age of 18 from health stores, online, or pharmacies
Most research studies have found that CBD is safe with no known side effects, although some users have reported drowsiness, a light head, low blood pressure, and dry mouth. If you take prescription medication we strongly recommend that you discuss using CBD supplements with your doctor before you do so.
In the Dr Watson CBD oil range, we have a 1000mg, 2000mg, 3000mg & 4000mg. While a lot of companies offer a 500mg option, we believe that 500mg strength is not strong enough to really have an effect on you, even people that are new to CBD. We offer a 1000mg for the same rate most companies offer a 500mg, giving you greater value.

Well then entirely depends on what you have, if you are buying CBD gummies, you’ll get a sweet zing of tropical passion, if it’s our oils, you will get a nice light natural hemp flavour possibly with some additional flavourings. Our capsules are as tasteless as they come. Our Big Hit tastes exactly like cannabis, whilst we also have flavoured vape choices for those with a sweeter tooth!
Usage & Dosage
This is entirely subjective, the most popular method of consumption is via CBD oral tincture drops, followed by CBD vape. There are CBD gummies or sweets available for those that prefer something sweeter, while capsules are available to take with water to avoid any flavour at all. But there are numerous other methods that are particular to what your desired effect of taking CBD is. Some people use lotions and muscle rub’s for post workouts.

Users have found that it is helpful in supporting balance and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Only you know your own body, and ultimately everyone reacts differently to CBD. If you are new to using CBD supplements, we suggest starting using CBD supplements on a slightly lower dosage and easing your way up.
Products are best stored at room temperature
This entirely depends on how frequently you use the products and how much you take in a sitting. We have some customers that will go through a big hit in 4 days and some will take 4 months.
We strongly recommend not using CBD in either case

Lab Testing & Certificates of Authenticity
We testy for general cannabinoid content, and our raw materials are tested for heavy metals, pesticides or any of that nasty stuff.
Because there are a number of the brands in the market that are not honest with their labelling regarding how much CBD content is in their product. Given how little regulation there is in the industry currently. We want to take it upon ourselves to assure you that you are getting the most reliable products on the market
That entirely depends on the country you are visiting. I would definitely search online before travelling. Most EU member countries it is okay, when travelling further afield such as the US I would avoid travelling with it
CBD in itself will not. If the product you are trying has THC in it then it’s possible that it can show. We ensure that all of our products will not show up on a drugs test.
Never, our products are cruelty free. Aside from our Gummies & Capsules, they are vegan friendly too
We would always recommend speaking to your physician before deciding to take CBD with any medication.
