There is a growing body of research that suggests that CBD may be helpful in improving the daily life and general health of adults of all ages
While some folks have embraced the idea wholeheartedly some folks who are interested in what they are hearing and reading about CBD and might like to try it themselves don't. They don't because they are confused about CBD's association with illegal drugs and the possibility that using CBD to get them into trouble. And yes, not to generalize, but a lot of these people are older, like your parents.
So, how can you explain CBD to your parents, either so they can feel better about you making use of it - even though you're an adult, parents worry - or for them to try it for themselves? Here are some facts and talking points you can use to get that conversation started.
Slang and Pop Culture Has Confused Hemp's Legal Standing
Much of the confusion that surrounds CBD's legality for some people comes from the fact that some words that have a very specific scientific and/or legal meaning are used in every day casual speech - slang if you like - to mean something else.
Here's a non CBD example. The word energy, to a nutritionist, means calories. To a nuclear scientist it means power. But to most of us it means that feeling of 'get up and go'. We buy 'energy drinks' to liven ourselves up.
The same is true for hemp. In the 1970s a lot of people used the word hemp in reference to their textiles and fabric material. Actually they made up lots of terms for it, but hemp was certainly one used in some circles. A bit like some craft beer fans today use the word 'hops' as a cooler way to say beer. Hops aren't beer, they are an ingredient in it, but things have got a little confused.
However, slang aside, the word hemp has a very specific legal meaning; hemp that has been cultivated to contain almost only CBD any very little other active compounds.
Hemp is not Mj!
Hemp strains that contain significant levels of CBD are desirous. And in most places it's very much legal. These high CBD strains are used to create CBD products like those we sell under the Dr Watson umbrella. And they are all perfectly legal.
CBD is safe & effective - Your parents needn't worry!
CBD is a miracle compound with so many applications and uses. It does not have the ability to trigger the areas of the brain associated with change. So Mum or Dad can use CBD without having to worry about embarrassing themselves or becoming hippies. So you can safely, and honestly, assure them that while CBD has the potential to do a lot of things for them, getting them weird isn't one of them.
